BLW Diary - Yoghurt

Well we really are going great guns on the baby led weaning with kitten.  Today she had some pasta bolognese off her big brother's plate and a few spoons of lactose free yoghurt.  I think you can tell from the photos what she liked the best!

We did start off with the Explorer spoons that Tommee Tippee kindly provided recently following the melting breast pump issue (see other post!).  However, these aren't good for self feeding - too long and most of the yoghurt ended up elsewhere before the spoon got anywhere near her mouth!  Kitten is currently using Monster's truck spoon - she is a girl in need of a spoon!

Unfortunately, despite the cute photos, the yoghurt did not agree with Kitten.  We have suspected for some time that she had issues with dairy and I have had to cut out dairy from my own diet whilst nursing her.

I stupidly misunderstood the problem thinking she was intolerant to lactose.  Sadly, no.  A friend did mention to me that adults are more likely to be lactose intolerant whereas babies / children are more likely to have issues with cow milk protein.

I think our suspicions of some sort of intolerance have been confirmed as poor baby was most upset throughout the rest of the day with tummy ache.

So I'm back on the non dairy wagon with vigour.  No chocolate, no cheese, no butter either at this stage.  I'm using oat milk and sunflower or olive spread.  Oh how I miss chocolate!  I need to get me some dairy free....
